William Livingstone Memorial Lighthouse


Belle Isle, Detroit

This memorial lighthouse was built to honor Great Lakes shipping magnet and advocate, William Livingston. The lighthouse is located on the north-eastern tip of Belle Isle in the middle of the Detroit River. Built in 1930 out of Georgia marble and designed by Albert Kahn. The William Livingston Memorial Lighthouse is the only marble lighthouse in North America standing at 58 feet tall.
